Emma Marie Poling

Emma is the 18 year old daughter of Leckta L. Poling of Philippi and Frank and Amanda Poling of Moatsville.  She is a 2021 graduate of Philip Barbour High School and is currently a Freshman at WVU where she is majoring in Biology and hopes to become a Dermatologist.   While in high school, Emma was a twirler for the Philip Barbour Marching Colts, a member of the PBHS girls’ soccer team, PBHS Junior class treasurer, and Senior class secretary.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, Young Life Christian Youth Group, New Tech graduate, Summa Cum Laude Honors graduate and was the 2021 Homecoming Queen.

Three words to describe Emma are dedicated, hard working and compassionate.  She lists her hobbies as playing soccer, twirling, spending time with family and friends, strengthening her relationship with God and helping others.  Emma is a member of the Kasson Willing Workers 4-H club, ABGA & JABGA (goat) member, was chief of the Delaware tribe at 4-H camp, attends Horizons Church where she is a children’s church/nursery volunteer and is an employee of Audubon Animal Clinic.

Emma stands 5’3” tall and has brown hair and hazel eyes.  Her favorite thing about Barbour County is the people and their willingness to help others in times of need and crisis.  “I appreciate the opportunity I had to grow up in this rural community, on our family farm as it has helped shape the woman I am today.”

Emma states as her reason she should be the next Miss Barbour County “I would be honored to be the 2021 Barbour County Fair Queen to celebrate our community perseverance and ability to overcome a trying year during this pandemic.  I have attended the Barbour County Fair since I was an infant with my family and I enjoy this time of year, spending time with all my friends near and far.  As a student in this community, I have enjoyed representing Barbour County in school activities, athletic competitions and community activities including my participation at Horizons Church and numerous livestock events showing my animals (goats, pigs and calves) each year.”
